A woman has appeared in court charged with driving while almost seven times over the Scottish drink-drive limit.

The 57-year-old was stopped by police near Fyvie in Aberdeenshire on Wednesday evening.

Officers were alerted by a member of the public concerned about a vehicle on the New Deer to Fyvie road.

The alcohol limit for drivers in Scotland is 50 milligrammes in every 100ml of blood, or 22 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

In England and Wales, the limit is 80 milligrammes in every 100ml of blood, or 35 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

Inspector Neil Morrison said: “The consequences of drink or drug-driving are widely known and it is disappointing that drivers still believe it is acceptable to risk their safety and the safety of others.

“I would like to thank the public for their continued support and provide assurances that any information passed to us will be actioned appropriately as we endeavour to reduce these offenders from our roads.”
