Yahoo News Woman finds poop stains on bedsheet, towel in Singapore hotel
Hotel said it is investigating incident, offers her refund and a free one-night stay, which she declined
SINGAPORE — A Singapore TikTok user has documented her unpleasant experience involving her hotel room's bedsheet, which seemed to be stained with faeces.
In a TikTok video posted on Wednesday (1 March), video editor and voice actress Lili Ong - who goes by the username omglili - related how she had booked a "premier double room" at M Hotel Singapore along Anson Road.
According to AsiaOne, the 23-year-old freelancer had paid $190 to book the room from 11am to 7pm. Planning to film a hotel review, she had initially expressed her satisfaction towards the room amenities and room service.
Things took a horrible turn when she allegedly discovered two stains on the bedsheet. She had been lying on the bedsheet for a few hours. when she deciding to go under the bedsheet after feeling cold.
However, she smelled poop odor, and to her shock, she discovered poop stains on the bedsheet. She later discovered another small light brown mark on a towel in the hotel room.
Declined hotel's offer to refund
Ong took a shower immediately after discovering the poop stains, left the hotel and took another bath again when she got home.
In response to her complaints, the hotel manager offered her a refund and a free one-night stay at the hotel. However, she declined the offer.
In a statement sent to The New Paper, the hotel is investigating the incident and is unable to determine the cause of the incident. The hotel also assures that further action will be taken if warranted.
The duty manager and housekeeper had attended to Ong's complaint, which was around 6.30pm.
"We immediately took steps to change the sheets and towel in the room. We also launched an investigation (which) revealed that our room attendant entered the room with a clean set of linen and left the room with the used set of linen at around 3.10pm," the statement said.
Netizens were quick to respond to Ong's TikTok video, with some questioning if she had planted the stains on the bedsheet herself.
