We all have to clean our hair - regardless of its abundance or lack thereof.

Due to the accumulation of sweat and product in between strands, we frequently need to give it a rinse. But, apparently, we may have been doing this incorrectly for some time now.

At least that's what TikTok user, @tspaappleton, suggests. In an instructive video, she states there's a "correct" way to wash your hair. It seems it's not quite as simple as applying some shampoo to your head.

According to this beauty expert, you should shampoo, rinse, then repeat. Following that, you should condition your hair before using a leave-in conditioner and heat protection spray.

Finally, she proposes using a hair serum or oil to achieve that super glossy finish. The process is quite lengthy and has caused quite a debate among her viewers.

The extensive steps involved in achieving this so-called perfect cleanse has taken many by surprise. A few even suggest that a person's hair type should dictate their cleansing method.

After all, everyone is unique, and what works well for one individual may not be suitable for another. Judging from the responsive comments, people seem to utilise a variety of washing techniques.

Some viewers seemed impressed by the advice.

One commented: "No wonder my hair has been getting so long. I've been doing something exactly right." Another said: "Sometimes I shampoo three times if my hair is really dirty."

Meanwhile, a third noted: "Only thing I don't do is the hair serum/oil."

However, not all agreed with the idea, with a few suggesting that frequent shampooing causes their hair to dry out. As well as this, some just didn't see the logic.

Some others mentioned the method they choose depends on how "lazy" they feel on the day. After all, it's quite a lengthy procedure.

One user contributed, "Not me - just shampooing once and use conditioner. The end. Nothing else." Another chimed in with: "If I have to shampoo twice, then they better make shampoo prices affordable."

A third joked: "I asked my budget, and it said I can only shampoo once."
