Speed up your household chores with this nifty trick.

We all yearn for a more efficient way to clean our homes. The relentless cycle of hoovering the carpets, washing the dishes, dealing with the laundry and dusting every hidden corner often leaves one feeling like the house barely stays clean for a few minutes.

No one wants to dedicate their entire free time to tasks, so shortcuts that speed up the process are highly sought-after. Now, imagine if you could significantly cut down the time it takes to mop your floors.

For those with tiles or linoleum in their kitchens and bathrooms, mopping becomes a crucial task to maintain the shine.

This obviously wouldn't apply to carpeted areas, and wet mopping hardwood floors is generally discouraged, but mopping is non-negotiable when it comes to tile and vinyl sheet floorings.

However, mopping has its own set of challenges. If there's a lingering crumb or strand of hair on the floor, you can inadvertently end up dragging that dirt along with the mop, meaning nothing really gets cleaned.

Removing these particles becomes a laborious task in itself, and grime caught in the mop head adds further time and frustration to the process.

Luckily, one woman found the perfect solution. In response to a Reddit post asking "best time-saving cleaning hacks", she simply advised: "Vacuuming the floor before mopping."

Simply grab your vacuum and give the floor a quick once-over before you mop. This helps to collect any debris that could be spread around by your mop.

Several commenters also shared their own time-saving strategies, including the original poster who offered their own mopping advice: "For me, it's mopping cabinets."

Another person chimed in: "I dry my shower every time I use it. I've gotten really fast at it and it never needs a deep clean because it stays pristine."

While another revealed their daily routine: "For me, it's getting a load of dishes and laundry going before I leave for work in the mornings. Swapping a load to the dryer and unloading the dishwasher in the afternoons saves a ton of time."
