Woman still in Royal Stoke two days after Hanley fight

A woman today remains in Stoke-on-Trent's main hospital - two days after a fight erupted in a city centre house. The casualty and an injured man were taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital on Bank Holiday Monday.

It came after Staffordshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service had been called to a property on Astle Place, in Hanley. Police cordoned off part of the street following the fight.

They later arrested a teenager on suspicion of assault by beating.

A police spokesman said today: "The woman is still in hospital. The 19-year-old man was released on conditional police bail while enquiries continue."

Police are continuing to appeal for witnesses. They should call the police on 101, quoting incident number 507 of 7 May, or call Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
