Woman in Tears After Sister Gives Her Friendship Bracelet to Share News at Eras Tour: 'Bit of a Gamble'

"A year ago today, I got to share my favorite secret with my favorite sister," Bekah Hornbuckle says on TikTok

A woman used a night at the Eras tour to announce her pregnancy to her sister in true Swiftie fashion: by using a friendship bracelet.

In a video posted on TikTok, Bekah Hornbuckle can be seen at Swift's concert along with her sister Kristin.

Like many of the attendees of the show, Hornbuckle, 27, gave her sister a friendship bracelet before the concert — one of two shows the duo saw in Minneapolis.

In the video, she can be seen handing the hand-beaded bracelet to Kristin, who then squints to see what it says.

"A year ago today, I got to share my favorite secret with my favorite sister," Hornbuckle writes in the video, which was taken in June 2023.

As the video shows, Kristin was shocked at seeing the word, "Octagon" written on the bracelet and immediately screamed "Are you serious?" before bursting into tears and hugging her sister.

In another video, Hornbuckle explains the meaning behind the "octagon" reference, saying, "it's a bit of an inside joke with my family."

"Essentially, the story goes that I have four older siblings, and when I was born, I believe it was really early in the morning," she explains. "So my dad called my aunt to tell her, 'Hey, you're an aunt again,' and she was very tired and very out of it, and she could not comprehend why someone was calling her at that hour of the morning to call her an 'octagon.' "

She continues: "Since one of my brothers already has kids, I figured 'Octagon' would be a good way to tell her she's an aunt again."

As Hornbuckle details, the bracelet was "a bit of a gamble."

"I wasn't sure if that story lived rent-free in her head like it did in mine," she says of the inside joke.

But if the family didn't have the "octagon" joke, Hornbuckle likely still would have used an Eras tour friendship bracelet to share the news, saying in one video on TikTok that she has a slew of other ideas for pregnancy announcement bracelets.

"Now that Tortured Poets is out, I think the most obvious one is going for the, 'I'm having his baby,' lyric and incorporating that in some way," Hornbuckle says, a reference to a line in the song, "But Daddy, I Love Him."
