Worcestershire walking route named among UK's best for summer

When the sun is shining, there’s nothing like a walk in the fresh air with loved ones and one walking route in Worcestershire has been named among Britain’s best for summer.

BBC’s Countryfile has listed what it deems the best summer walks in Britain.

Introducing the list, it said: “During the long, balmy days of summer, options for walking are seemingly endless.

“Step out of your door and stroll to your local park or reserve; amble through cool, shady woodlands; follow riverside trails and canal towpaths; relish the seaside charm of a coastal path; head for the high hills or climb mountains.

“With so many options, choosing a summer walk can be tricky. To help you out, we've put together a selection of our favourite summer hikes.

“Each summer walk includes route directions and a map, as well as wildlife highlights, amenities, distances and difficulty.”

What did Countryfile say about the Malvern Hills walking route?

Countryfile said: “Hike along the Malvern ridge from British Camp, a magnificent Iron Age hill fort, before descending into the picturesque town of Great Malvern for a well-earned pub meal.”

The walk is 5.3 miles long, takes 3.5 hours to complete and is ranked as moderate in terms of difficulty.

The website added: “Climb to the summit of British Camp and Worcestershire Beacon on this five-mile route through the Malvern Hills, stopping midway for a picnic lunch as you gaze across the surrounding countryside.

“The walk ends in the busy town of Great Malvern, the perfect place to unwind after a day in the hills.”
