Worker in 'Grave Condition' After Partial Building Collapse in Chicago

A worker was in “grave condition” after becoming trapped under rubble when a house partially collapsed in east Chicago on Thursday, January 12, the Chicago Fire Department (CFD) said.

CFD said crews responded to the collapse on the 700 block of East Oakwood Boulevard, near Mandrake Park, shortly after 11 am and found one person who was unaccounted for buried under the debris.

Firefighters spent about 30 minutes removing the victim, according to updates from the fire department, and then transported them to the University of Chicago Medical Center, CFD said.
