England's busiest motorways were left completely deserted as tens of millions of people stayed stuck to TV screens to watch England’s clash with Sweden.

Tens of millions of people got together to watch the quarter final, which saw England win against Sweden 2-0.

While some pubs across the capital saw huge queues, and there were celebrations with thousands flocking to beer gardens, the roads in and around London were virtually deserted for the match.

Webcam footage from Highways England show the A3, the M25, the M1 and the M11 almost completely empty of cars.

23.8 million viewers tuned into England’s match with Colombia and the tournament has seen fans celebrating widely all over the country.

While viewing figures of Saturday’s match are yet to come out, it is expected the match will have huge viewing figures just as others have.
