Both events will see the piping community from around the world come together to create loads of things to see and do around the city.

And should you be looking to take part as a spectator then we've put together a handy guide of everything you need to know.

Piping Live!

The world’s biggest piping festival, Piping Live! attracts over 30,000 attendees to Glasgow each year, with an eclectic programme of events for pipers and music lovers alike to be held at venues across the city.

Taking place from Saturday, August 10 until Sunday, August 18, the annual event is run by the National Piping Centre and is now in its 21st year.

The World Pipe Band Championships

Taking place on Friday, August 16 and Saturday, August 17, the championships are a renowned annual event which sees thousands of pipers and drummers from all over the world descending on Glasgow Green to compete in the ultimate ‘battle of the bands’.

The spectacular finale of last year’s ‘Worlds’ culminated in just under 9,000 pipers and drummers – representing 190 bands and 15 countries - gathering to play together before Scotland’s Ford Peoples Ford Boghall & Bathgate Caledonia Pipe Band were crowned the 2023 World Champions.

This year’s Championships mark the 76th anniversary of Glasgow first staging the event, which is organised on behalf of the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association by Glasgow Life, and the city has hosted it ever since 1986.
