Andre Onana admits he questioned whether he'd made the right decision to move to the Premier League after a tough start to life at Manchester United, but is now '100 per cent sure' he made the right choice.

The Cameroon international endured a difficult opening few months in England. High-profile mistakes in the Champions League played a part in United finishing bottom of Group A and being eliminated from Europe entirely before Christmas.

Onana's form in the second half of the season has been much improved, though the last few weeks have seen him make a couple of mistakes that have cost his side points in the race for Europa League qualification.

The former Inter Milan goalkeeper has admitted he questioned his decision to move to England after a turbulent start to the campaign, but he is now settled and enjoying his football again.

"When I look back now I am just smiling because it was a big lesson for me," Onana told MUTV when asked to reflect on his first season in the Premier League. "In the beginning I was like, 'Wow, did I make the right choice?' but I'm definitely 100 per cent sure I made the right choice because Manchester United is the biggest club in this country and one of the biggest clubs in the world."

Onana admitted the dressing room are not happy with how this season has gone and says it's difficult to pinpoint why the team have regressed after a solid debut campaign under Erik ten Hag.

"I hope I have the answer but football is not like mathematics, one plus one is two," he added. "It's not always the best players who win, there's always a lot of ups and downs, you just have to deal with the situation and we have to deal with the situation.

"We have faced a terrible season, for me, personally, and as a group as well. I don't think my teammates are happy with the situation we are facing. I know them, they are all winners, everyone wants to win, before the season we spoke about fighting for every single title.

"Things happen in life and you have to deal with the situation. We have a beautiful final to play and another few games to play so we will go for it."
