WREXHAM will be without their star striker Paul Mullin when they face Cherries later this month.

Andoni Iraola’s men get their pre-season schedule underway on Saturday, July 20 against the League One outfit (12am July 21 UK time).

The game will take place in Santa Barbara, California, during both club’s respective pre-season tours of USA.

Wrexham, who have just achieved back-to-back promotions, are owned by Hollywood superstars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, while Cherries also have American investment in Bill Foley and actor Michael B Jordan.

However, Mullin, the talisman of Wrexham’s rise up from the National League, will not be making the trip to the US.

A club statement confirmed the 29-year-old had undergone minor spinal surgery to correct a long-term lower back and hamstring issue.

Wrexham add: “There is no timeframe as yet on Mullin’s return, who will work through rehab with the club’s medical department to ensure he can return to full fitness.”

Posting on X, Mullin himself said: “Gutted to be missing the tour, but I couldn’t go any longer.

“Op is all done getting right for the coming season is now the focus! BRB thanks for the messages.

Mullin has scored an astonishing 105 goals for Wrexham in 140 appearances, since joining from Cambridge United in 2021.
