X Factor 2016: Josh Brooks denies attacking his girlfriend at New Year's Eve party

Josh Brooks should be celebrating after he and his twin brother, Kyle, got through to the Live Shows of The X Factor last night.

However, the 17 year old has seen the good news be tarnished by reports that he “attacked” his girlfriend at a New Year’s party ten months ago.

The Welsh starlet has been forced to clarify claims that The Sun have made against him, with the paper reporting that he even got arrested by police officers because of the violent altercation.

His girlfriend, Amelia Clarke, refused to press charges and Josh has now explained that the entire thing has been misinterpreted and she had actually intervened to stop him from fighting with another man at the party.

A source said: “Josh was adamant when quizzed that he had never hit Amelia and that he was the target of malicious rumours.”

Josh himself spoke out, adding: “A fight broke out between me and another male at a party. Amelia, along with others, tried to break it up.

“She was accidentally knocked in the process. It was never my intention to hurt her or put her in danger — and this situation is way out of my character.”

And Josh clearly isn’t letting the news ruin his good spirits, taking to Twitter after last night’s X Factor episode aired to quip: “Life is so good right now.”
