Saturday night’s X Factor auditions saw the judges dishing out the ‘yeses’ – but there was a severe lack on Sunday night as a slew of wannabe singers had their dreams shot down by Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger.

The latest instalment saw a rapping mother-daughter duo, a ‘queen’, and a Celine Dion, Salt N Pepa and R Kelly mash-up.

Here are the five must-see auditions from episode six:

Megan Byrne

No witchcraft or sorcery could secure a ‘yes’ for Megan who left the judges speechless with her unusual rendition of I Put A Spell on You. Her staccato take on Screamin’ Jay Hawkins’ hit made Walsh grimace, and was dubbed “unique” by Osbourne who said: “You definitely made that song unique, but you’re too alternative for what we do here.” She was sent home with three ‘no’s’.

Jamesy

Eighteen year old Jamesy was left in tears when the judges decided to vote on whether or not he should be given a spot at Bootcamp or sail into his “dream job” as a junior assistant cruise director. The Derby-born crooner donned a shimmery red jacket for his cover of Justin Timberlake’s Can’t Stop The Feeling, which ended in him dropping to his knees. But his dream of becoming a world famous singer was cut short when Osbourne shouted, “get on that boat,” and he was sent packing with four ‘no’s’.

Descendance

Mother-daughter duo Descendance may have secured four yeses – but they fled the audition room in tears. Debye, 40, and Hayley, 20, attempted to win over the judges with their rendition of Macklemore’s Can’t Hold Us – but mother Debye was encouraged to step down and let her daughter take centre stage.

Osbourne said: “I think you (Hayley) are phenomenal. I think you (Debye) – I love your spirit and what you do – but I think you should be a DJ in a booth. You need to be there but in a different aspect. What you’re doing now is odd.”

Cowell agreed, adding: “Without being rude, it doesn’t work. I’m going to be really, really honest with you it’s not great. What you’ve done with your daughter is incredible because you have an amazing relationship, but it is quite rare that we’ve seen someone like [Hayley]. I think the fact that you’re happy to do this with your mum makes me like you even more.”

Queen A

Queen A may have been told she looks and acts like a popstar – but her voice told a different story after she sandwiched Salt N Pepa’s Push It and R Kelly’s Ignition in between Celine Dion’s My Heart Will go on in arguably one of the X Factor’s most bizarre mash-ups.

The 31-year-old recruitment worker from Wokingham, real name Ashleigh Jade Warwick, left the judges speechless, with Cowell asking: “Ashley was that serious?”

Taliah Dalorto

Talia Dalorto was exactly what Cowell had been ‘looking’ for after she blew him away with her take on Aretha Franklin’s Ain’t No Way. The 19-year-old secretary from Essex kicked off her dream of making her mark on the music industry after she received four ‘yeses’.

Following her audition Cowell said: “Sometimes I question why we’re in these small rooms, but that told me why it’s right to do it this way. It’s just you, us, your voice. I thought that was amazing.”

Walsh added: “I didn’t think it was going to be anywhere as good as this. We need more artists like you.”

The X Factor is on ITV, Saturday at 8pm.
