Simon Cowell and his Syco record label have cut ties with yet another former X Factor act.

The latest to get the chop are Reggie 'n' Bollie, who signed with Syco one month after finishing as runners-up to Louisa Johnson in the final of The X Factor's 2015 series.

According to The Sun, Syco made the decision to cut ties with Reggie 'n' Bollie after just two singles because the guys "struggled to turn their support into record sales".

A spokesperson for Syco confirmed: "Reggie 'n' Bollie are no longer working with us. We wish the guys the best of luck for the future."

Reggie 'n' Bollie seem to be taking the setback in their stride, and have announced on their Twitter account that they'll now be releasing singles independently.

Their funky debut release 'New Girl' reached the top 30 last year, but follow-up single 'Link Up' failed to dent the pop chart. A Reggie 'n' Bollie full album was never released by Syco.

Syco has had limited long-term success with many of the popular acts to come out of The X Factor. For every One Direction or Little Mix, there have acts like Steve Brookstein, Leon Jackson, Joe McElderry and Matt Cardle who were all dropped after one album.

However, Reggie 'n' Bollie shouldn't give up hope because this past year has taught us that early struggles don't necessarily mean the end of a career.

X Factor winner James Arthur was unceremoniously dropped by Syco amid a variety of personal problems in 2014, only to re-sign with the label two years later and top the charts with his aptly titled album Back from the Edge.

We're looking forward to seeing Reggie 'n' Bollie topping the pop charts before long!
