Sickened Yan Dhanda stated it’s as low as it gets after being subjected to alleged racist abuse.

Police Scotland have detained a Hibs supporter after the Ross County midfielder reported the incident during his side’s 2-1 weekend win. Dhanda, who has signed a pre-contract with Hearts for next season, was heckled by the visiting section before he approached ref Don Robertson.

Both clubs got to work immediately with police and County subsequently released a statement which read: “Yan was subject to alleged racial abuse from a Hibernian fan. Ross County and Hibernian have worked with Police Scotland to identify the male suspect, who has now been detained. There is no place for this in our game or society as a whole.”

Dhanda spoke out on his social media account as he posted a message which read: “Abusing someone for their background/colour of their skin is as low as it gets. Clearly the punishments aren’t strong enough. When will it stop?” The midfielder sought the attention of Robertson during the first-half of the contest at the Global Energy Stadium.

Dhanda’s issue was subsequently passed onto fourth-official Greg Soutar, who made manager Don Cowie aware of the situation. Hibs also released a statement saying they would take “the strongest possible action against anyone identified in making discriminatory and hateful comments.”
