Yellowjackets star Liv Hewson has addressed the possibility of Drew Barrymore playing the older incarnation of her character Van in season 2.
The hit Showtime series, which follows a group of high school soccer players stranded in the wilderness after a plane crash – while also showing their future lives – has been the talk of the town since its debut a few months ago.
With season 2 now in the pipeline, fan speculation has reached fever pitch on who could play the older versions of some of the characters.
Speaking exclusively to Digital Spy, Liv said of some of the names bandied about for Van: "Every time anybody is suggested, I am always super-flattered, because the people who get thrown around are so talented and amazing, like Lauren Ambrose or Merritt Wever. Just everybody.
"I'm like, 'Yeah, that'd be great, that'd be great.' 'What?' 'I don't know.' 'Yes, I'd love it if Julia Stiles played an older version of me. What are you talking about? That'd be lovely.'"
The actress admitted that the chatter was "a little overwhelming in a lot of ways", elaborating: "Because I'm like, 'Yeah, these are all people I am deeply impressed by. I don't know what's going to happen.' [laughs]".
When posed the idea of Barrymore playing the older Van, however, Liv replied: "Wouldn't that be fun?" though revealed she hasn't asked her about it.
"We haven't spoken about it, actually, but that would be a fun nod to us having worked together before. That would be like a little wink to some Santa Clarita Diet fans."
When it was noted that she could have the power to sway the actress, Liv joked: "I'd be like, 'Do you want to sit in a makeup chair for two hours every day? Would you mind?' [laughs]".
Yellowjackets is available on Sky and NOW in the UK and Showtime in the US.
