‘Yellowstone’ Season 5 Finally Has a Premiere Date — and It’s Sooner Than You Think

“Yellowstone” is finally returning almost two years after Season 5 was supposed to be back.

Sure, there were strikes, alleged lawsuits, and Kevin Costner’s “Horizon: An American Saga” also debuting at Cannes in the meantime. But that just means Season 5 must be worth the wait, right?

Paramount Network announced that “Yellowstone,” which holds the title for being the number one show produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, will be back this November.

The hit series is currently filming in Montana. This will be the second half of Season 5 airing.

“Yellowstone” follows the Dutton family, led by patriarch John (Costner), who controls the largest contiguous cattle ranch in the United States. Amid shifting alliances, unsolved murders, open wounds, and hard-earned respect — the ranch is in constant conflict with those it borders — an expanding town, an Indian reservation, and America’s first national park.

Wes Bentley, Kelly Reilly, and Luke Grimes also star.

“Yellowstone” is co-created by Oscar-nominated screenwriter Taylor Sheridan and John Linson. In addition to Sheridan, Linson, and Costner, executive producers include Art Linson, David C. Glasser, Bob Yari, Stephen Kay, Michael Friedman, Christina Voros, and Keith Cox. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

“Yellowstone” has since spawned two prequels — “1883” and “1923” — and has shattered records at Paramount Network and Paramount+. Another spin off starring Matthew McConaughey is in the works.

Season 5 was rumored to be Costner’s final appearance on the series; however, the actor and “Horizon” writer/director told Entertainment Tonight that he originally hoped to star in seven seasons of the Paramount show.

“How it works out — I hope it does — but they’ve got a lot of different shows going on. Maybe it will,” Costner said. “Maybe this will circle back to me. If it does and I feel really comfortable with [it], I’d love to do it.”

He added that he has his own idea for where his character John should go in later installments.

“Well, you know, [John Dutton] needs to be proactive in what happens and I’ve kind of had my own fantasy how it might be, but that’s Taylor’s thing,” Costner said, citing series creator and showrunner Sheridan. “I said as much to him a while back. I had thoughts how it could happen, but we just have to see.”

“Yellowstone” premieres November 10 on Paramount. Check out the new teaser below.
