Amali, a young bonobo at the Cincinnati Zoo, was alarmed by a falling autumn leaf on Monday, October 31, footage shows.

The zoo announced that Amali was born in July of 2020.

Video posted by the Cincinnati Zoo, which they said was taken on Monday, shows the juvenile ape being startled by a falling leaf. In the post, the zoo jokingly captioned the footage “Amali the bonobo vs falling leaf.”

Bonobos, which share “more than 98% of their DNA with humans” and are humans’ “closest living relative,” are considered endangered, according to the Cincinnati Zoo. Credit: Cincinnati Zoo via Storyful
