Young E-scooter rider killed in Newham crash where police find no other vehicles

A 27-year-old man was killed after an E-scooter crash in Newham on Sunday, May 5 and police are looking for witnesses to the incident. Met Police officers were called at 1.50am to reports of a crash at Woolwich Manor Way, at the junction with Albatross Close.

Officers, London Ambulance Service and London's Air Ambulance attended. At the scene, an E-scooter rider was found in the road with serious injuries. There were no other vehicles present.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, police and later hospital staff the E-scooter rider died in hospital on Tuesday, May 14.

The man’s next of kin have been informed and they are being supported by specially trained officers. Detectives investigating the crash are appealing for anyone with information or footage to come forward.

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit are asking anyone with dash cam footage, or who witnessed the incident, to make contact via 020 8597 4874 or 101 quoting reference CAD 736/05May.
