Yahoo News Young Sheldon boss hints show could be ending soon
The Big Bang Theory spin-off Young Sheldon is currently on season 6, and has a season 7 on the way thanks to a previous renewal deal. That's a lot of episodes for a prequel based on a well-established character, and if you're wondering how much longer it can last, so are the people working on it.
Speaking to TVLine, executive producer Steve Holland revealed there had been internal discussions over whether to use season 7 to wrap things up (we could have said go out on a bang, but we didn't).
"We’ve certainly started to talk about it," he admitted. "When you’re in the middle of a season, it’s such a grind that we haven’t had too many in-depth conversations. But now, as we’re getting to the end [of season 6], we’ve started to talk about it more.

"There are certainly [plot points] we know we want to hit next season, and there are certain things where, if it’s the end versus if it’s just [another season], those things might be different. It’s not my decision to make.
"I don’t think we’ll know for a while, but I don’t think it will effect the first half of [season 7]. I think it will play out the same either way. But as we get near the end, I think it will play out differently depending on whether this is, or is not, the final season."

There has been talk in Hollywood about the Writers' Guild of America going on strike — the first since the 2007/08 strike that interrupted the first season of Big Bang — and Holland has talked about getting in place in case they have to do a shortened season.
Whatever happens, we should expect to see the young genius relocate from Texas to California, as well as some major family moments — good and bad — that have referenced in the parent show.
