Yvette Nicole Brown to Guest Star on Season 2 of ‘Frasier’ (EXCLUSIVE)

“Community” star Yvette Nicole Brown has been added to the list of Season 2 guest stars on Paramount+’s “Frasier” revival. Variety has learned that Brown will appear as the sister to Olivia, the character played by Toks Olagundoye.

Brown’s character, Monica, has been referenced several times on the show by Olivia as her sibling rival, but viewers haven’t met her until now. Monica is described as “part haughty professor, part Nancy Drew, the brilliant, biting, and delightfully deadpan Monica is Olivia’s perfect older sister. She has everything Olivia has and everything Olivia wants – and never misses a chance to remind her.”

“We are thrilled to be graced with the comedic gifts of Yvette Nicole Brown. Her work is effervescent, deftly balancing humor and heart. She is just a delight,” said executive producers/co-showrunners Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli in a joint statement.

Besides “Community,” Brown’s credits include “The Mayor,” “Drake and Josh,” “The Odd Couple,” “Big Shot” and “Act Your Age.” Her films include “Dreamgirls,” “Tropic Thunder,” “Avengers: Endgame” and Disney’s “Disenchanted.” She received a 2020 NAACP Image Award nomination as a writer on the romantic comedy “Always A Bridesmaid.”

Brown joins other Season 2 guest stars including Peri Gilpin, who is back to reprise her role as Frasier’s former radio producer, Roz, as seen in the show’s original 1993-2004 run. (Gilpin also appeared on the current revival’s Season 1 finale.) Amy Sedaris is set to appear as Dr. “Doc” Stathos, described as “a municipal therapist with a down home, scattered veneer. She works with the firefighters at Freddy’s firehouse and is also a big, BIG fan of Frasier Crane from his old TV talk show.”

And as Variety revealed on Monday, Kelsey Grammer’s daughter Greer will play Alice, Roz’s daughter, described as “now in her late twenties, friendly, outgoing Alice has inherited more than some of her mother Roz’s free-spirited ways. Having just moved to Providence to study architecture, Alice is eager to catch up with Frasier’s son Freddy—and complicate whatever romantic plans he may have.”

Harris and Cristalli executive produce “Frasier” with Kelsey Grammer, Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon. The series comes from CBS Studios in association with Grammer’s Grammnet NH Productions.
