Zara McDermott addresses Sam Thompson 'argument' pics as he's supported over Soccer Aid debut

Zara McDermott was seemingly snapped having an 'argument' with her boyfriend Sam Thomspon - but the reality couldn't have been further from the truth. The documentary maker was in the crowd over the weekend as her beau took part in his first-ever Soccer Aid.

I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here winner Sam was delighted to have been invited to take part in the huge charity football match, which took place on Sunday (June 9), and he was even chosen by Frank Lampard and Harry Redknapp's starting line-up for the game at Stamford Bridge, the home of his beloved football club Chelsea FC.

Soccer Aid 2024 saw England once again taking on the World XI with both teams full of former professional footballers, singers, presenters, actors and more.

And England emerged victorious at the end of the 90 minutes having not won in six editions of the fundraiser before this year, with former Chelsea star Frank making his managerial debut for the side with his uncle and former football manager Harry, actress Vicky McClure and singer and Soccer Aid co-founder Robbie Williams also in his team.

They won 6-3, thanks to two goals from Dragons' Den star Steven Bartlett and Jermain Defoe and Theo Walcott’s second-half appearances but most importantly, more than £15 million was raised on the night, taking the overall amount raised by Soccer Aid since its inception in 2006 to £105m.

As he made his Soccer Aid debut, Sam was supported by Zara as well as his parents, sister Louise and her fiance Ryan Libby. But it appears after the event, Zara and Sam were caught appearing to be in an intense exchange but it wasn't what it seemed.

Sharing the photo in which it looked like she was shouting at Sam, Zara wrote on her Instagram Story: "Why did this make me laugh so much. 'Stop saying you should have scored!!! You did your best and that'a ll that matters!! You need to stop doubting yourself!!!!' [crying laughing emoji].

"It looks like we are having an argument, I'm actually telling him positive affirmations in a very passionate manner [crying emojis]."

Meanwhile, Sam's proud family all featured in videos captured by Zara which the Strictly Come Dancing 2023 star from her point of view in the stands.

Sharing the video to Instagram, an emotional Sam said: "My girlfriend made me this video for memories and I wanted to share it… I still cannot believe what happened yesterday. I got to play football on the very pitch that I would go to with my dad. To play in front of my family aswell….I don’t think I will ever be able to get over it!!!! Look at @louise.thompson shouting [crying laughing emoji]."

He then added: "Thank you to @socceraid for allowing me to be a part of such a special game for the most incredible cause @unicef_uk . I am truly honoured!!! We raised 15 million baby!!"

Responding to the post, Zara said: "Proud doesn’t even cut it." Louise replied: "Cutest video ever!!!" Fellow former Made in Chelsea star Sophie Habboo simply wrote: "Mega!"

Meanwhile, his fans and followers also wanted to show their support. @oh.naff.off.you.wazzogamy said: "You were amazing Sam a true true team player well done." @sam__thompson__fanpage commented: "So proud of you Sam!! You smashed it!!"
