Mike Tindall, the husband of Zara Tindall, has shared a never before seen image of Prince Philip as he paid tribute to the "devoted family man".

Tindall, who is married to the Queen's granddaughter, said it had been a sad week but that the family was reflecting on "great memories" ahead of the funeral on Saturday.

He posted: "It’s been a very sad week but it has given us time to reflect on great memories and stories both personal and shared. A devoted family man who we will forever miss but always love."

Alongside the short tribute was a new photo, taken by Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge.

It shows Mia Tindall, their eldest daughter, eating and chatting to her great-grandfather on a bench outside a log cabin.

He did not share when the picture was taken, but it could have been on the Sandringham estate, as the duke had retired to Wood Farm in 2017.

Mia appears to be talking to her grandfather as he tucks into a plate of food. Three plates rest on the table, but the third diner is not seen - possibly Kate, who took the picture.

A glass of beer, the duke's preferred lunch time drink, is on a bannister behind the two.

Zara is the only daughter of Princess Anne, the only daughter of the Queen and Philip.

She shared a love of all things equestrian with her late grandfather, and although she does not carry out royal duties, was part of family occasions like Trooping the Colour and Royal Ascot.

The photo from Tindall, a former England rugby player, follows the release of two other pictures of the Queen and the duke with their great-grandchildren.

Buckingham Palace released an image of the Queen and the duke surrounded by seven of their great-grandchildren earlier this week, taken in 2018, in Balmoral.

The picture included two of the Tindalls - Mia, and Lena - as well as all three Cambridge children, George, Charlotte and Louis, and Peter Phillips' children, Savannah and Isla.

But it pre-dated the birth of Archie, who is Prince Harry's son, and two new royal babies - Eugenie's son August and Zara's newest arrival Lucas.

Eugenie and Zara both included the name Philip as a middle name for their sons, a tribute to their grandfather.

It's not known if Prince Philip had been able to meet either newborn before he died on 9 April.

Tindall's tribute follows a heartfelt post from his wife's cousin Eugenie, who remembered her grandfather for saving the sausages on a barbecue when she was "incinerating" them.

The princess also promised to "look after Granny" for him.

The Tindalls are on the slimmed down guest list for the funeral on Saturday, which will only have 30 mourners, because of coronavirus restrictions.

All of Prince Philip's children and grandchildren will be at the ceremony, along with a few of his German relatives and his good friend Penny Knatchbull, the Countess Mountbatten of Burma.
