Zara Tindall could potentially step into the role of becoming Prince William's Princess Anne in a "slimmed down monarchy" when he ascends to the throne, according to royal commentator Angela Mollard.

Mollard, a columnist for News Corp, suggested that due to the close friendship between Zara and William, it would be logical for him to rely on someone as "trusted" and "faithful" as her.

These remarks were made following Zara's appearance at Ladies' Day at Royal Ascot last week, alongside her husband, Mike Tindall. Zara is the daughter of Princess Anne and cousin to Prince William.

During a segment on Sky News Australia, Mollard questioned: "This commentary that's happening is, 'Is William making the right decisions around slimming it down?'"

She expressed her doubts, saying: "I think he's not, and to your point Louise (Roberts) earlier about that really close relationship between him and Zara, you're absolutely right; they are the best of friends.", reports the Express.

Mollard further elaborated: "And if I was William, I would be guiding him towards pulling in somebody as trusted, as faithful, and as relatable (we're talking about relatability) as Zara."

She concluded by stating: "She would be his Princess Anne, as Princess Anne was to the King, when he becomes King, and I think to be too narrow is foolhardy."

Adding a note of caution, she said: "You don't know what Charlotte and Louis might choose to do, so to be too slim is not showing the caution I think that this institution needs."

Sky News contributor Louise Roberts shared her thoughts on the idea of a slimmed down monarchy with presenter Caroline Di Russo, describing it as "a bit premature" considering the health issues of Prince William's wife and father.

She suggested that the public's reaction to the "whole Swifty situation" indicates a strong appetite for seeing more of Prince William, implying that his increased visibility could contribute to the longevity of the Royal family.

This likely refers to Prince William's recent outing with Prince George and Princess Charlotte at Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour concert last week.

Royal enthusiasts were thrilled to see William dancing with his children to Swift's popular track 'Shake It Off', with young Princess Charlotte seen imitating her father's moves.

Mike and Zara Tindall also attended the Wembley Stadium gig, following a performance of 'Shake It Off' by Buckingham Palace's military band during the changing of the guards' ceremony.

Zara has been turning heads among Royal watchers with her appearance at Royal Ascot, earning the title of "star of Ascot" for her stunning attire.

One Instagram user commented: "I feel like Zara is the most consistently smashing these days."

Another user, @Natt. katt, declared: "Zara is the star of Ascot this year."

Meanwhile, @dvjacobs08 praised: "Zara knocked it out of the park EVERY DAY."
