Zayn Malik has left fans worried after posting on Instagram for the first time in weeks - with a teary selfie.
The 27-year-old was silent on the 10-year anniversary of One Direction earlier this month, leading many to think he had deleted social media. However, on Thursday evening he uploaded a close-up of his face with no caption.
While some fans were happy to see his face again after so long, others were worried about his red eyes.
“He looks like he’s been crying, is he ok?” one follower wrote.
“Am I missing something? Why the crying?” another added.
However, others speculated that it could be lighting, or his eyeliner, making his eyes look watery.
Zayn has certainly had a busy few months preparing to become a father for the first time, as his girlfriend Gigi Hadid is currently pregnant with their baby.
The model confirmed that she was expecting after speculation from fans, revealing on Instagram: “Everything going is great and I love you guys.
“ I do appreciate those positive comments,” she said in a live chat with fans.
“A lot of people are confused by why I am not sharing more but I am pregnant through a pandemic.
“Obviously my pregnancy is not the most important thing going on in the world. That’s the reason I’ve felt it’s not something I need to share, apart from with my family and friends.
“Obviously a lot of people have lost lives due to coronavirus – that was in the beginning of quarantine and it’s still happening.”
“And then we moved into the re-emergence of the BLM movement and I thought that our presence on social media should be used for that.”
Zayn is yet to comment publicly on the pregnancy, but Gigi tols Jimmy Fallon back in April: “Obviously, you know, we wish we could’ve announced it on our own terms, but we’re very excited and happy and grateful for everyone’s well wishes and support so..."
