Zoe Ball says 'it's so hard to be brave' as she thanks fans for support after mum's funeral

After sharing the sad news that her mum had passed away in April, BBC Radio 2 presenter Zoe Ball has now thanked her fans for their support after the funeral. Posting to Instagram Zoe, who is known for hosting The Zoe Ball Breakfast Show on BBC Radio 2, said: "It's so hard to be brave".

In a lengthy post, including pictures of Zoe's mum Julia at different points in her life, Zoe said: "Yesterday we said goodbye to our dear Mama, Granny J. it was the perfect day and she would have loved it forever in our hearts Mama, thank you for your magic & love. missing you so much but holding tight to each other.

"Thank you to everyone who sent kind messages, cards & flowers. Big love to the many of you who have shared with us about your own loss and heartbreak, to those battling with cancer or looking after loved ones affected by cancer. we wish you all the strength and love, and of course the humour you need to keep going. some days it's so hard to be brave."

Zoe went on to thank St Peter & St James Hospice and others who helped at the funeral. Many fans commented messages of support on the post, one said: "Aw Zoe. You’ve been in my thoughts. You’re always so generous with your love and care for others - whether you know them or not! I really hope you have people around you to do the same now. Sending so much love. Another added: "Lovely photos Zoe. Sending lots of love" and: "Sending love to you and all your family Zoe" with an orange love heart emoji. Since March Gaby Roslin has been occasionally stepping in for Zoe on BBC Radio 2, after she first announced her mum had been diagnosed with cancer, so Zoe could spend more time with her before she died.
