Zoe Ball says 'I'm bereft' as she announces heartbreaking family death

Zoe Ball has announced the sad death of her mother. The BBC Radio 2 DJ announced the sad news on Twitter, now X, on Wednesday (April 24) morning, sharing a picture of her late mother Julia with her followers.

Zoe captioned it: "sleep tight dear Mama. thank you for teaching us how to love unconditionally, to always show courage and empathy, and how, even in the darkest of days, laughter is the greatest of gifts. we are bereft without you but will hold so tight to each other."

Richard Coles replied: "Prayers assured, Zoe." Steve said: "Dear Zoe. With my love and prayers for you and the whole family - may you find strength together in your grief and, even in this moment, joy in the memory of the richness of your mum’s life, her example and her love for you."

"What a beautiful picture and tribute to your mum. Having also lost a parent this year, I truly empathise. Sending love," said another. Liz said: "Condolences to you and your family, Zoe. It's the hardest thing in the world. My mum is still around in spirit, which is great but not quite the same when all you want is a hug. Xxx."

Becky said: "Oh Zoe. My heart goes out to you and the family. Cherish every moment you had with such a wonderful woman, and know she is now at peace. Sending you all so much love xxx." Pete said: "So very sorry to see this Remember the happy times, the laughter and good memories Keep family close and tell wonderful stories of precious moments Much love."

"I know and understand your pain and thinking of you and your family at this extremely sad time. Take the time for yourselves to grieve your wonderful mum and try and think of the good times and smile," Sarah said.

Zoe's heartbreaking update this morning comes just days on from the radio star sharing that her mother Julia had been moved into a hospice following her pancreatic cancer diagnosis.
