Zookeepers in Kharkiv Area Sedate Himalayan Bear for Evacuation

Zookeepers at Feldman Ecopark, just north of Kharkiv, sedated a Himalayan white-breasted bear in order to quarantine her ahead of the bear’s evacuation to a partner zoo, the park said on Instagram.

Footage posted on Feldman Ecopark’s Instagram account shows the zoo’s female Himalayan white-breasted bear pacing inside an enclosure as a keeper sedates her with a blowgun.

The park wrote that frequent shelling had made it difficult to continue evacuating animals but that would not keep zoo staff from trying.
