National TV Awards: Ant And Dec Dominate

National TV Awards: Ant And Dec Dominate

Ant & Dec will face-off against themselves after receiving two nominations in the same TV award category.

The Geordie duo's show Saturday Night Takeaway will compete against I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out Of Here! for the best entertainment prize at the National Television Awards.

The programmes are up against Celebrity Juice and The Graham Norton Show.

The pair will also be defending the best entertainment presenter title they have picked up for a record 12 years running.

They face competition from Dermot O'Leary, the host of the awards show staged at London's O2 Arena, together with Keith Lemon, Alan Carr and Graham Norton.

Competing for the top drama trophy are Doctor Who - on a high from its 50th anniversary celebrations - alongside Downton Abbey, Call The Midwife and Broadchurch.

Broadchurch is up for further honours with both its stars Olivia Colman and David Tennant up for the newly introduced best TV detective award.

Idris Elba is nominated for Luther, Bradley Walsh for Law And Order: UK, Scott And Bailey's Suranne Jones and Benedict Cumberbatch for Sherlock.

Cumberbatch has been nominated despite no new episodes of the show being screened during the qualifying period, but NTA bosses said they included him because repeats had proved popular with viewers.

A range of shows compete for best factual entertainment, with The Great British Bake Off against Top Gear, Sky 1's An Idiot Abroad and Paul O'Grady: For The Love Of Dogs up for the award.

Strictly Come Dancing goes up against The X Factor once more for best talent show, along with Britain's Got Talent, Dancing On Ice and The Voice.

EastEnders, Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Hollyoaks are up for the best soap prize.
