The App That Hides Game Of Thrones Spoilers

An add-on for the Google Chrome internet browser can stop you from seeing spoilers for your favourite TV drama.

The Silencer extension allows users to type in specific terms, which are then blocked from Twitter and Facebook feeds.

It could be a boon to dedicated fans of hit TV dramas such as Sky Atlantic's Game of Thrones, Mad Men and True Detective.

Fans of Game of Thrones were left angry on Monday after a technology website tweeted spoilers minutes after the latest episode aired.

The four million Twitter followers of Mashable were sent details of a major event in the most recent episode, followed by an email update.

One Twitter user wrote: "Thanks for the spoiler. I am now removing you guys from my news feed."

The Silencer app is free and can be downloaded from the Chrome Web Store.

Once downloaded, users can enter specific words, phrases or hashtags which are then blanked out of Twitter and Facebook updates.

The app's page reads: "Take control of the internet on your terms.

"Silencer is the easiest way to mute spoilers, people, hashtags, terms and phrases on Twitter and Facebook."

Game Of Thrones is on Sky Atlantic HD on Mondays at 9pm.
