California heatwave: Brown bear cools off in bathtub

This bear showed it wasn't shy in cooling of as part of California sweltered in a heatwave last week.

The inquisitive creature was spotted taking a dip in an unused outdoor bathtub as the temperature rose in the afternoon heat.

The brown bear scratches its head on the corner of the tub before playfully wading around in the water for around 30 seconds.

Californian Randy Spade captured the footage of the bear cooling off in his back garden.

Temperatures peaked at the start of the week in California, with the heat reaching five year highs in parts of the state, along with Nevada.

California's power grid operator even issued a rare plea for customers in the north of the state to conserve energy over the next couple days as temperatures soar.
