Baah-my! Sheepdog Ci Is Frightened Of - Sheep

A sheepdog called Ci has become an internet sensation - thanks to a video that shows him running away from sheep on his Somerset Farm.

The four-year-old Border Collie has a deep-rooted fear of the creatures, making it impossible for him to do the job he was theoretically born to do.

According to his owner Jane Lippington, who shot the video, Ci's problem developed when he was a puppy and was placed in a field of sheep.

He was petrified, so now, when tasked with rounding up the 100-strong flock, he is more than likely than not to turn and run.

"If they run away from him, he will go after them and act like a proper sheepdog," said Mrs Lippington. "But the moment they turn and face him he runs away.

"Sheep can be quite aggressive if they think they have the upper hand - they stamp their feet and gang up in numbers and act like an army.

"The only way to make it work is for me to get behind them first and shoo them so they run away and then Ci joins in. It just means a lot more work for us to do."

Although he's a scardy dog, Mrs Lippington says she could not imagine life without Ci on her 200-acre farm in Somerset.

"He might be the worst sheepdog in Britain but there's no way we would be without Ci, he's part of the family," she said.

"I took some footage of it simply because I thought it was funny.

"I don't think he would get very far on One Man and His Dog, he's more suited to You've Been Framed."

Are you kidding me! That dug is a master - the first to get the sheep to follow it!

And that is all that matters, caring and loving owners, good on them, and well done Ci!

My adult Rottweiler is scared of smaller dogs, the noise of kitchen foil, carrier bags, wheelie bins on the paths at night, anything that moves in the home with the threat of it falling over but I love him to bits.

We had a Border Collie who we got in Wales and she was the same!! The lady we bought her from was mortified...not much need though in sunny Southport so she had no need to worry. Lost her last year at 14yrs old so this is quite touching to see :-)

The dog is OK . It is the sheep which are in the wrong, they look as if they have learnt that the dog will back off. Try helping the dog and she will be a raelly good dog.

Awww bless...he reminds me of my own border collie, Meg who's petrified of postmen, she literally sits down and will no go past them. I'm so pleased that his owners still love Ci as our Meg was dumped on the A1...collies are such great dogs and have massive personalities and simply look cute no matter what!
