Elton John's Glasses Stolen From US Museum

A pair of Sir Elton John's heart-shaped glasses has been stolen from a US museum.

Officials from the Rock 'n' Soul Museum in Memphis, Tennessee, said workers noticed the famous eyewear was missing on Tuesday night.

Police said the display case holding the glasses did not appear to be damaged.

A museum manger told officers the thief would have to use tools to remove the glasses.

The white-rimmed glasses are valued at about $2,000 (£1,330), said museum director John Doyle.

The Rock n' Soul museum, located on Memphis' famous Beale Street, opened in 2000.

It houses more than 30 instruments, 40 costumes and other musical treasures, according to the museum's website.

The glasses worn by Sir Elton, whose signature look has long included flamboyant eyewear and outfits, were taken from a 60 Years Of Rock exhibit.

"This is the first theft from an exhibit in the Rock 'n' Soul Museum's 15 year history!" the museum said in a post on its Facebook page.
