Flying Squad: Car Thief Caught By PC He Hit

A man has been jailed after being chased by a police officer he had run over in a stolen car just moments before.

PC Dan Pascoe was setting up a roadblock on a slip road on the M25 with his police car when it was struck by the stolen vehicle he was trying to stop.

The force of the collision sent PC Pascoe flying into the air but he immediately got back to his feet and began chasing the thief who had abandoned the car and fled.

He caught up with the driver and used his taser before collapsing. Other officers were able to arrest the man.

Inspector Chris Colley, the head of Surrey police's roads policing unit said: "The officers, particularly PC Pascoe, had to react extremely quickly and despite the shock and possible injuries they may have sustained during the collision they were determined not to let the suspect get away.

"Thankfully PC Pascoe only sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision but it's clear that the extremely dangerous manner in which the stolen vehicle was being driven could easily have resulted in a tragic outcome."

Lee Ralph Adamson was sentenced to 23 months in jail last week after pleading guilty to charges of dangerous driving, failing to stop at the scene of an accident, driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and resisting arrest.
