Harry's Tribute To Queen At Jamaica Dinner

Prince Harry has paid tribute to the Queen's lifetime of service at a state dinner in Jamaica.

"For me, as for millions of people around the world, her lifetime's service to others is truly an inspiration," the prince told dignitaries and politicians at the Governor General's residence, King's House.

"She combines all her virtues as a leader and as a head of state, with those of being a wonderful, caring grandmother, to whom we, her grandchildren, are utterly devoted.??"

After a morning with sprinter Usain Bolt , Prince Harry swapped his tracksuit for a black tie.

"This is truly an exciting place to be," the 27-year-old said.

"Jamaicans are exciting people to be around - especially when they run the 100 metres in 9.58 ."

This state dinner had been arranged in honour of the Queen and Prince Harry was seated alongside Jamaica's Prime Minister, Portia Simpson Miller - who is behind the move to cut ties with Her Majesty.

But the prince was more interested showing he and Jamaica are getting on just fine.

"Her Majesty has asked me to extend her great good wishes to you all, and is sorry that she can't be here - so you're stuck with me... but don't worry, 'cos every little thing gonna be all right!"

The prince earlier visited charity Rise Life in one of Kingston's more deprived areas. Wearing a pair of blue suede shoes, Harry was pulled up to take part in a dance performance.

But the prince is not the only one touring on behalf of the Queen. Take That star Gary Barlow was also in the Jamaican capital researching the official track for the Diamond Jubilee and has asked Harry to take part.

"I can't sing" replied Prince Harry.

Gary Barlow told Sky News: "This is the start of my journey collecting musicians from all over Jamaica to put on this record and then we move on to another continent."

Describing the attention surrounding Prince Harry's visit, Barlow added: "It's such a shock. I mean, we are a million miles from Buckingham Palace here and the reaction has been incredible - you can feel it all over Jamaica."

Harry concludes his engagements in Jamaica today. He will take much with him from his Caribbean visit, including a scarf presented to him by Bob Marley's widow Rita and worn by the reggae legend himself.
