Kristin Scott Thomas Ditches Hollywood

British actress Kristin Scott Thomas has revealed she has turned her back on Hollywood.

The English Patient star told Sky News she purposefully avoids US films in favour of British and French movies and theatre.

"There's a mutual agreement, I don't want them and they don't want me," she said about working in Hollywood.

Scott Thomas has made no secret in the past of being fed up with the ageism she has encountered from casting directors in America.

She had previously declared: "Right now, all the big parts go to girls like Scarlett Johansson and I have to accept that's not for me."

The 51-year-old moved to Paris when she was 19 and her latest film, The Woman In The Fifth, is set in the city.

US actor Ethan Hawke stars alongside her in the film made by Polish director Pawel Pawlikowski , which tells the story of a down-on-his luck writer trying to start again in Paris.

"I try and make films that happen in Paris because I like to stay at home - but that's just me being silly really," she told Sky News.

The Four Weddings And A Funeral star speaks fluent French and has appeared in French language films.

These include 2006's Ne Le Dis A Personne (Tell No One), by French director Guillaume Canet, and the 2008 movie Il Y A Longtemps Que Je T'Aime (I've Loved You So Long).

The latter earned her Bafta and Golden Globe nominations for Best Actress.
