M&S store to close for bakery and wine shop makeover

An M&S store will close for a huge makeover, creating a bakery, wine shop and more.

The Newton Mearns supermarket will shut its doors on June 15, to transform into a fresh-market-style food hall.

The refurbishment will create a new bakery, wine shop, flower shop, new click & collect facilities, cheese barge and more.

Customers will be able to enjoy all the new features after the reopening later in the summer.

The investment is part of M&S’ plan to invest £30 million in stores across Scotland.

During the closure, colleagues will temporarily join nearby stores, including at Silverburn Shopping Centre and Kingsgate Retail Park in East Kilbride.

Ross Kitson, Newton Mearns store manager, said: “As someone who’s been at M&S since 2009, I’m so excited that Newton Mearns is getting a brand-new refresh.

"We were the first store in Scotland to become a Simply M&S so it is great we are now entering our next era to ensure we are always giving our customers the best shopping experience.
