Millionaire 'Urinated On Sweets In CVS Store'

A New York property tycoon who once killed his neighbour has been arrested for urinating on confectionery at a shop.

Robert Durst was detained on Sunday after arguing with staff at a pharmacy in Houston, Texas, said authorities.

The eccentric 71-year-old millionaire was charged with criminal mischief after urinating on at least $100 (£59) worth of sweets.

In 2001, the real estate heir went on the run after fatally shooting his elderly neighbour before cutting up his body and dumping it in Galveston Bay, Texas.

After Durst was captured, wearing a women's wig, he claimed self-defence and was acquitted of homicide charges.

He was convicted of evidence tampering, among other charges, and sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison.

Durst was also questioned over the 1982 disappearance of his wife, Kathleen McCormack, whose body was never found, and the 2000 murder of her close friend.

The case was reportedly the inspiration for the 2010 film All Good Things, starring Ryan Gosling and Kirsten Dunst.

Durst's family runs the Durst Organization, a real estate company that owns a number of New York City skyscrapers.

He became estranged from the family after he was passed over in favour of his brother to run the firm.

Durst later won a multimillion dollar court settlement from his relatives.
