Murder Hunt After Woman Found Dead In Alley

A murder inquiry is under way in Nottingham after a woman's body was discovered in an alleyway.

The victim has been named as 28-year-old Caroline Jayne Coyne.

The mother-of-two was found dead in the St Ann's area of the city.

Police said she had died from head injuries.

Her body was found between two houses in Thorneywood Mount, where police are focusing their investigations.

House-to-house inquiries are being conducted and officers are studying CCTV footage from the local area.

Senior investigating officer Detective Chief Inspector Tony Heydon of Nottinghamshire Police said: "A team of detectives are working on this inquiry, which we are now treating as the murder of a young woman.

"I am appealing for anyone who thinks they may have seen her during the night to contact us immediately."

Ms Coyne had shoulder-length auburn hair, and was wearing blue jeans with a brown belt, a pink T-shirt with "FCUK" printed in black on the front and pink-and-white trainers.

Police said she had spent Friday evening at a party in the Arnold area of the city.

Officers have undertaken extensive searches of bins and front and back gardens in and around Thorneywood Mount.

A cordon which was imposed around the area has now been lifted.
