Take splat! 20,000 people pelt each other with tomatoes at the annual Tomatina festival

The streets of the village of Bunol in Spain were awash with tomato juice and pulp as the annual Tomatina festival drew to a close. For the first time in its 70 year history organisers decided to charge a 10 Euro entry in order to restrict the number of participants and keep costs down in these straitened times. But that did not put off 20,000 revellers who spent the day enthusiastically pelting tomatoes at each other and bathing in pulp and juice.
