This 150-year old house wouldn't look out of place in 'Downton Abbey' but the stately property now has a unique feature - a 21ft-high slide.

The 57ft-long stainless steel feature has been installed by the National Trust at the Cliveden House in Berkshire while repairs to the 350-year-old staircase are undertaken.

Visitors to the majestic mansion can view the stunning grounds from the top of the scaffolding around the old staircase - then slide down to the garden on the enormous slide.

The historic mansion and its grounds was home to King George I and Nancy Astor and was also the setting for the political scandal the Profumo Affair.

It was here MP John Profumo met 19-year-old Christine Keeler in 1961, started an affair, ruining the reputation of Harold Macmillan's government.

Seen as a playground for the rich and famous in days gone by, the vast estate is keeping with its playful history with the four-person slide, which allows riders to reach the bottom in just five seconds.
