Restaurant Serves Up Discount To Gun Carriers

If you're going to Bergeron's Restaurant in Louisiana bring your appetite - and your gun.

Customers at the Port Allen outlet who carry a weapon are given a 10% discount on their meal.

According to US news reports, restaurant owner Kevin Cox said he came up with the idea as a way to thank law enforcement officers who go to the restaurant.

However, other gun-carrying customers soon began asking for the discount too.

He says he does not mind: "As long as everybody has a gun we're all the same size."

"I keep hearing so much about people banning guns, [discount retailer] Target's banning guns and these people are banning guns.

"Don't they realise that that's where people with guns are going to go? I want to take the opposite approach. How can I make my place safer?"

Mr Cox says he gives out about 15 to 20 discounts each day.

The gun discount has drawn some publicity to the restaurant, which is known for serving cajun food.
