Raising the bar (mitzvah): Teenager's flamboyant entrance dance for Jewish initiation ceremony

The Jewish bar mitzvah coming-of-age ceremony is normally quite a serious affair - but teenager Sam Horowitz wanted to make his entrance in style.

The 13-year-old stunned guests at his Dallas ceremony performing a flamboyant stage dance routine, complete with backing dancers and a backlit stage spelling out his name.

Sam burst on stage for his Jewish initiation ceremony to Jennifer Lopez's 'Dance Again', before launching into a choreographed routine which he had been practicing for months.

Sam said he had wanted to perform an elaborate dance routine ever since seeing one performed on stage when he was younger.

His flashy entrance was performed in front of 400 guests at his bar mitzvah ceremony in Dallas, Texas.

He said: 'When I was seven I went to a concert, and some of the performers came out of chandeliers. I was like, "Oh my God I want to do that'.

'I'm so fortunate to be able to do things like that. It was definitely the best day of my life.'

His mother Angela Horowitz - who would not reveal how much the lavish bar mitzvah entrance cost - said her son 'just loves to entertain'.

She added: 'It's a really big part of his personality.'

The routine isn't the first time Sam has tried performing. The 13-year-old has already released his own 'music video' for the Carly Rae Jepsen hit, 'Call Me Maybe'.
