SanDisk eyes up Eye-Fi for SD card range

SanDisk has announced a partnership with Wi-Fi specialist Eye-Fi, meaning a range of SanDisk SD cards carrying the wireless tech.

Packing 802.11n Wi-Fi and Class 4 minimum sustained write speed, the SanDisk Eye-Fi Wireless memory card will be able to hook-up with your smartphone or tablet with no need for wires, and also to your PC via your home network.

There's also access for SanDisk customers to Eye-Fi View, a cloud-based storage solution.

"Since 2005, we've been building an imaging ecosystem that delivers a connected photography solution that helps people easily view and share their digital photos, freeing images from devices and releasing them into people's lives," said Yuval Koren, chief executive officer and co-founder of Eye-Fi.

"SanDisk has built wide brand awareness in the memory space and enjoys strong distribution throughout EMEA. This relationship will deliver a connected solution into more hands and more cameras faster than we could ever have imagined.

The SanDisk Eye-Fi cards will come in 4GB and 8GB varieties. There's no price or release details as of yet.
