A British team has designed and built a Jetbike which will attempt to break speeds of 400 miles per hour and break the two-wheeled land speed record later this year.

The Jet Bike, which is known as Jet Reaction, is the creation of a British team who plan an assault on the world 'two-wheeled land speed' record.

Jet Reaction, could achieve speeds of up to 425mph and will undergo testing in Wales before a world-record attempt in Utah in September.

In anticipation of the world record attempt in America, the team are planning a full powered speed test in the UK in late May . Conditions permitting, Jet Reaction is expected to challenge a number of UK speed records, during the tests.

The super powered jet bike is the work of 50-year-old, engineer Richard Brown.

Richard has previously designed and piloted two similar vehicles in the 1990s. Brown will attempt to beat the current two-wheeled land speed record of 376.363mph set by US rider Rocky Robinson in 2010.

The bike is thrust powered using an afterburning jet engine. Enclosed in a space age body, the bike is propelled by a specially modified helicopter engine.

The bike cost around £100,000 to create and took four years to design and build.
