Video: Brazilian police ram smugglers’ plane on runway

Shocking footage has emerged of a smugglers’ plane being rammed at high-speed by Brazilian federal police- as it was preparing to take off.

The smugglers’ attempt to flee was eventually cut short by gun-wielding federal policemen, who slammed their car into the light aircraft’s left wing. The police then ran to the meet the downed plane on the airstrip before the in-car video cuts out.

The dramatic chase occurred on an airstrip in Ribeirão Preto, Sao Paulo, later resulting in the capture of the smugglers who were found to be transporting an estimated £90,000 worth of computers and surveillance technology. The aircraft had been specially fitted to smuggle consumer goods.

The five suspects were reportedly headed for Paraguay before they were dramatically prevented just seconds before take-off.
