Coalition Airstike Destroys Weapons Base in Fallujah

US-led airstrikes successfully destroyed an Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) weapons facility in Fallujah, Iraq, on July 25, according to a Combined Joint Task Force report. According to the statement, the facility was a critical IS stronghold that helped militants produce numerous car or truck bombs, also known as “VBIEDs.”

Brig. Gen. Kevin Killea, CJTF-OIR Chief of Staff, said, "By destroying VBIED factories like this one with deliberate air strikes, we take the weapon of choice out of the arsenal of Daesh (ISIS).” Credit: Iraqi Mod
