Huge Explosion at Italian Fireworks Factory Kills Seven

At least seven people died in a huge blast at a fireworks factory on Italy’s Adriatic coast on Friday, July 24. Six more people were injured in the fire at the Bruscella factory in Modugno, near the south Italian town of Bari. According to Italian La Repubblica, the fire broke out in a van before spreading to the factory, sparking an explosion so strong it shook windows several kilometres away.

Firefighters are not expected to be able to safely access the factory, which has partly collapsed, to search the facilities and confirm the full death toll before Saturday. Credit: YouTube/Vittorio Vese
