Turkey's media under fire: protests at NTV

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered outside the Istanbul headquarters of Turkish television channel NTV – angered by its coverage of anti-government protests. Critics of NTV, one of Turkey’s leading news channels, believe that it censored police brutality in its reporting of the mass protests. At the protest, signs bore messages such as “media for sale” and “how much did you sell your honesty for?” NTV, which is a private channel, is not the only media outlet to be criticised. Protesters have accused the Turkish media in general of being biased in its approach to the unrest, siding with the government of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
